The National Aeronautics and Research of the US Space (NASA) has published unique images made by the Curiosity on Mount Sharpe on Mars.
In the official NASA account on the social network X, a 30 -second video appeared, which captures the Curiosity movement along the slopes of Mount Sharp – a place that many scientists consider the dried channel of the ancient river.
The video was shot at the foot of the mountain, towering about 5 kilometers above Crater Gale. Ancient hills are visible on the frames, formed billions of years ago as a result of meteorite strokes and subsequent geological processes.
“You can imagine a quiet, light breeze or even waves of a long-disappeared lake, breaking through an ancient shore,” the publication of NASA.
notes.
Curiosity rover, which arrived at Mars in 2014, continues to climb the slopes of Mount Sharp. Scientists believe that billions of years ago this region, like most of Mars, was much more humid and favorable for life.
As the planet dries, the wind and the remnants of water gradually eroded the mountain, forming layers of rocks that Curiosity studies today
Mount Aeolid (lat. Aeolis mons; unofficially known as Mount Sharpa, English Mount Sharp) – the central peak of the crater Gale on the planet Mars.
Curiosity continues to explore the surface of the red planet, collecting data that will help to better understand its history and find out if there have ever been on Mars the conditions suitable for life.
