National teams of Russia and Belarus of hockey banned participation in 2023 World Cup

The International Hockey Federation (IIHF) suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus from the 2023 World Cup. This is stated in the report of the Federation.

Before this, in April, the Federation withdrew the right to hold the World Cup 2023 in St. Petersburg.

In 2023, the World Hockey Championship was supposed to be held in St. Petersburg from May 5 to 21. The alternative owner of the World Cup will be approved during the annual Congress of the International Hockey Federation of 2022, which will be held in May in Finland.

Earlier, the Council of the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) deprived Russia of the right to hold the youth World Cup of 2023 because of the war in Ukraine. He was supposed to take place from December 26 to January 5, 2023 in Novosibirsk and Omsk.
