NATO leaders gathered for summit in Vilnius

The heads of NATO state and governments gathered at the NATO summit site in Vilnius.

Turkey at a meeting of the North Atlantic Council is represented by the head of state Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Finland for the first time takes part in the alliance summit as a full member.

Speaking at the opening of the summit, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg congratulated the president of Finland Sauli Niinist on participation in the summit.

NATO Secretary General expressed the hope that Sweden will also in the near future become a full member of the Alliance.

Finland’s participation in the Summit as a full -fledged NATO member, as well as Sweden’s speedy attachment to the Alliance was met by applause.

NATO Secretary General noted that as part of the meeting, the leaders of the NATO countries will make significant decisions.

Ukraine’s support will be increased, which will bring it closer to the Alliance, new defense plans for NATO are approved, and more ambitious investments in the defense sphere are approved, Stoltenberg noted.
