NATO Secretary General: Türkiye Is Reliable And Effective Ally

Türkiye is a reliable and effective ally of the North Atlantic Alliance. This was announced in his account in social networks by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte following a meeting with Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.

Negotiations took place on the eve of an informal meeting of Foreign Ministers of NATO countries, which will be held in Turkish Antalya May 14-15.

Rutte said that the parties discussed the situation in Ukraine, where, according to him, “there was a real opportunity to achieve peace.”

According to the Secretary General, he had an “important meeting” with President Erdogan about preparing for the NATO summit, which will be held in June in The Hague.

Earlier, the Directorate of Relations under the Administration of the President of Turkey reported that the parties discussed the relations of Ankara and NATO, the conflict of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, regional and international issues.

According to the report, the head of the Turkish state emphasized that Ankara is firmly advocated for establishing a comprehensive ceasefire between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
