“NATO still cannot promise Georgia an entry into Alliance”

The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO is not yet ready to give Georgia any promises of the deadlines for joining the Alliance.

“As for the issue of membership, we are not going to call any date,” Stoltenberg said at a press conference following the results of the second day of the NATO summit in Madrid.

He also added that today NATO decided to invite Sweden and Finland to become members of the Alliance. It is assumed that on June 29, Sweden and Finland will sign the corresponding protocol on the entry. Then, parliaments 30 of the current NATO members will have to ratify their entry into the Alliance.
