NATO strengthened presence in Kosovo

NATO peacekeeping contingent in Kosovo (KFOR) strengthened its presence in North Kosovo, where clashes between security forces and ethnic Serbs occurred.

This is stated in the message KFOR.

The mission called on local sides to refrain from escalating the situation.

The statement emphasizes that the commander of the KFOR is in contact with the military representatives of Kosovo and Serbia, as well as with the EU EULEX mission.

KFOR also called on Belgrade and Profin to work as part of the dialogue process under the leadership of the EU, aimed at normalizing the situation.

The situation in the region worsened after the confrontation arose between security forces and ethnic Serbs, trying to prevent the local administrations of the Albanians who won the local elections in the buildings of local administrations.
