NATO will hold large exercises in Mediterranean

NATO will hold major military exercises in the Mediterranean, with the participation of the American aircraft carrier “Harry Truman”, said the official representative of Pentagon John Kirby.

He told to journalists that the sea maneuvers “Neptune-22” were planned in advance, but when deciding on their start, the exacerbated situation around Ukraine was taken into account.

“Garry Truman’s aircraft carrier strike group will be transferred to the NATO operational management and will become the central element of these long-planned exercises,” the words of Kirby RIA Novosti quotes.

he added that in maneuvers, during which it is planned to work “distant blows” and the receptions of the anti-submarine struggle will take part more NATO countries, but did not call them.

“The question of the teachings was properly studied taking into account the current tensions. And after all considerations and discussions with the participation of NATO allies, it was decided to act,” said Kirby.

According to him, the teachings begin on Monday and will last on February 4.
