Nazarbayev’s nephew pleaded guilty in court

The nephew of the former president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev Kairat Satybaldyuly pleaded guilty to the theft of funds on an especially large scale, Kazakhstani media write.

It is reported that Satybaldyuly also compensated for damage in the amount of 40 billion tenge ($ 88 billion).

The prosecutor requested six years of imprisonment with confiscation of property for Satybaldyuly and asked the court to ban him to occupy certain positions for a period of ten years. In addition, the accusation insists on the deprivation of Nazarbayev’s nephew of the title of Major General National Security.

Kairat Satybaldyuly was detained on March 13 this year. He was placed in an insulator on suspicion of embezzlement of funds in the company of the largest telecommunications operator of Kazakhstan “Kazakhtelecom”, as well as in abuse of powers.
