Today, the 20th round of the Azerbaijan Football Premier League ended with two matches.
One of the championship leaders “Neftchi” defeated “Sabail” at the “Baksel Arena” – 4: 0. Already in the 5th minute, Namik Aleskerov opened the scoring in the match. The other three goals were scored within ten minutes in the second half. In the 65th minute, Stephen Monrose made the score 2: 0. Four minutes later, Yusuf Laval scored the third goal. And the end of the game was put by Mert Celik, who distinguished himself in the 75th minute.
“Neftchi” and “Garabagh” again have an equal number of points – 42 each. “Neftchi” takes 1st place thanks to two victories in face-to-face meetings.
In another match of the day in Gabala, the local team took the 3rd place “Zira”. On the 23rd minute, Vinko Medimorets brought the hosts ahead. However, six minutes later, “Gabala” remained in the minority due to the removal of Merab Gigauri. For the rest of the match, the hosts were forced to defend themselves, responding with rare counterattacks. As a result, “Zira” nevertheless equalized the score, having won back in the 3rd added minute. Facundo Melivilo distinguished himself.
“Zira” retained a 4-point lead from 4th place, while “Gabala” is still 3 points behind this very 4th position, which is likely to give a ticket to European cups.
Let us remind you that yesterday in the first two matches of the 20th round, “Garabagh” beat “Sabakh” with a score of 2: 0, while “Sumgait” and “Keshla” drew 2: 2.
