According to the report, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the beginning of the meeting thanked his colleagues from Azerbaijan and Armenia – Jahun Bayramov and Ararat Mirzoyan for responding to the Russian side proposal to “take advantage of the participation of the CIS for the meeting for three, which It will continue to continue the joint work to monitor the implementation of tripartite statements “, which were previously accepted at the highest level.

“We are interested in the South Caucasus to turn into a zone of peace, sustainable development, prosperity,” said the head of the Russian diplomatic mission, adding that it is important for Moscow to increase confidence between the parties when creating conditions for a full normalization of Armenian -Azerbaijani relations.

“I expect that today’s meeting will make it possible to advance along the path that was drawn by our leaders,” Lavrov noted.

In turn, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Bayramov in his introductory word emphasized that this meeting “is a good opportunity to discuss the progress that can be achieved.” Bayramov expressed regret due to the fact that there are no proper improvements in the opening of transport communications in the region. “I know that the contacts between colleagues are ongoing. And we believe that there is a good prospect, a good opportunity to achieve the result and achieve the execution of tripartite statements completely,” he said. “Recently, we had enough intense contacts in terms of launching the state border process. . I believe that there are good developments, understanding from the point of view of the composition and representativeness of the parties in the commission on delimitation, and I also believe that in the near future it will be possible to start this process at least. ” Bayramov noted that, for his part, Baku is ready to start work on a peace treaty, despite the fact that the meeting of ministers, preserving the contacts of the parties “will positively affect the continuation of the discussion on this subject.”

The Foreign Minister of Armenia Mirzoyan at the beginning of the meeting of ministers emphasized that Yerevan was and remains committed to the execution of all agreements and statements between the leaders of the three countries. “We are ready to continue all work on existing formats: to open the communications of economic infrastructures in the region, and under a peace treaty or, as it is probably more correctly called, an agreement on normalizing relations, establishing relations, and to solve all the remaining problems, including humanitarian ones, The release of prisoners of war and other problems that remain unresolved, ”he said.
