Netherlands removed restrictions on export of military products to Turkey

The Netherlands announced the removal of restrictions on export to Turkey a number of equipment for the needs of the defense industry.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Defense and the Netherlands Economics published a joint text of the application for the removal of restriction on export of defense industry equipment to Turkey.

The joint text of the three ministries reports about the measures adopted by the Government of the Netherlands regarding the control of the export of weapons. According to this document, these measures should help strengthen defense cooperation in Europe.

The text of the statement indicates that the Netherlands government wants to strengthen European defense cooperation and encourages the participation of the Netherlands in these projects. The statement notes the need to form honest competition in Europe.

The economic viability and innovative power of the Netherlands defense sector largely depend on exports, since more than half (54%) of this sector is exported.

“with the connection with this, the action on the restriction of the export of equipment for the defense industry, which is currently operating in relation to Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia, stops immediately,” the document emphasizes.
