Today’s decree of the Armenian President Armen Sargsyan Suren Papikyan was appointed a new minister of defense.
In the Armenian segment of social networks, they immediately focused on the fact that in the biography of the new head of the defense department a lot of dark spots during his service in the army.
It is noted that 35-year-old Papikian was born in the city of Stepanavan (former Jalalog) of the Lori region. From 2003 to 2010 He received education at the Historical Faculty of Yerevan State University. In the course of study, it was called up in Armenia Armenia, but it is relifically known that because of the incident in the service he was convicted of imprisonment.
Armenian media argue that Suren Papikan was charged with the relevant articles of the Republic of Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia: “Deposit or the use of other violence against the head, committed during the fulfillment of the responsibilities of military service or in connection with the execution of these duties with the use of weapons.” / P>
In March 2006, he was sentenced to a military court for imprisonment for a period of 2 years 3 months.
Earlier, the Minister himself confirmed that there was an incident, as a result of which he was convicted of imprisonment, then was released by amnesty. He added that “regrets what happened.”
From 2010 to 2016 Papikyan taught history at school number 54 in Yerevan, in parallel working in college.
In 2017, he became an expert of the Fractions “Ek” and was put forward by a candidate for parliamentary elections.
In March 2018, he participated in the “velvet revolution” in Armenia, and after her victory became the minister of territorial management and development.
Before the appointment of the Minister of Defense of Papikyan, he held the position of Vice-Prime Minister.
