On Ala-Too Square in Bishkek, a solemn ceremony of raising a new flag was held.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zheparov, Toraga Jogorku Kenesh (Speaker of Parliament) Nurlanbek Shakiev, Secretary of State of the Kyrgyz Republic Suyunbek Kasmambetov, Minister of Emergency Situations Bobok Azhikeev, Head of the General Staff Ruslan Mukkubetov, mayor of Bishkek Aybek Dzhunushaliev and Avtora Zhusuup Moisup. Taev and Bekbosun Zhaychybekov.
The event was held to the sounds of the state anthem.
President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov on December 22, 2023 signed the Law “On Amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic” On State Symbols of the Kyrgyz Republic. The document was adopted by Zhogorku Kenesh two days earlier.
The law was adopted in order to improve one of the main state symbols of the Kyrgyz Republic – the flag of the country.
The adopted law has changed the shape of the rays of the sun on the flag of the Kyrgyz Republic from the wave -like to direct.
