New generation fighter will create Britain, Italy and Japan

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced a new joint project with Italy and Japan to create a multi-purpose Tempest multipurpose fighter. The new fighter equipped with the most modern weapons is planned to be commissioned in the mid-2030s, BBC reports.

The fighter got its name in honor of one of the most powerful fighters of the Second World War – the British Hoker Tempees.

The new Tempest will replace the fourth-generation multi-purpose Typhoon fighter, which was created in the 1980s, but is still in service with many countries, including Great Britain.

The designers have the task of creating a combat vehicle that will differ in high speed and maneuverability in combination with secrecy. The aircraft will be equipped with the most modern electronic equipment, including a powerful computer with artificial intelligence functions, which can come to the aid of the pilot in emergency situations requiring complex and instant decisions. Theoretically, such a fighter will be able to fly even in a full autopilot mode. In addition, he will be able to carry hypersonic missiles on board.

The first phase of the program for the development of the new fighter Rishi Sunak officially launched on Friday while visiting the Royal Air Force Koningsby Air Force in Lincolnshire.
