New threat: in 41 countries fixed outbreaks of bird flu

The World Organization For Animal Health / OIe (The World Organization for Animal Health / OIe) encouraged countries to strengthen the epidemiological surveillance of avian influenza outbreaks, since within six months about the flashes of the virus were reported in 41 countries in Europe and Asia. This is stated in a message published on the organization’s website.

It is noted that from May 1, 2021, outbreaks of high-pathogenic avian influenza (WSGP) were confirmed from birds and domestic birds in 41 countries from a number of different regions of Africa, Asia and Europe, including the United Kingdom, France, Poland, Russia, Israel, Japan , China and others.

Currently subtypes HPAI H5N1, H5N3, H5N4, H5N5, H5N6 and H5N8 are circulated in populations of birds and domestic birds around the world, which causes concerns in OIE, which called it “the unprecedented genetic variability of subtypes … creating an epidemiological situation” .

During October, almost 16,000 HAPI cases were registered, which indicates an increased risk of virus circulation. According to the Centers for the Control and Prevention of US Diseases (CDC), from the moment of the first infection of a person in China in 2014, 51 cases of infection of people subtype H5N6 were registered.

An increase in the number of cases of human infection by the H5N6 poultry flu influenza causes anxiety among experts who say that the previously circulated strain seems to have changed and may be more contagious for people.
