New wave of tensions between Kosovo and Serbia

Deploying the Priminal Additional Police Forces on the border in connection with the implementation of the requirement for the removal of Serbian license plates from cars entering Kosovo, caused a new wave of tension between the partially recognized Republic of Kosovo and Serbia, reports AP.

According to the report, the Kosovo Police of Special Forces with armored vehicles is sent to the border. Hundreds of Kosovo Serbs, driving up to the border, in protest blocked one of the checkpoints.

At the same time, President of Serbia Alexander Vucich, according to the results of a meeting of the Security Council of the Republic, said that Belgrade demands an immediate discharge from the administrative line between the Kosovo and the Metokhia and the Central Serbia of all units of the Kosovo Police Special Forces. He noted that Brussels agreements are not executed by Pristina, and called on Brussels to influence Kosovarov, reports TASS.

Kosovo police argue that the purpose of the transfer of special forces to the administrative line transition points is to modernize the infrastructure and the improvement of the working conditions of the police. On the other hand, the head of the Office of Kosovo and Metohii under the Government of Serbia Petar Petkovich said that Prime Minister Kosovo Albin Kurtie and the authorities in Pristina ordered forced to shoot Serbian car numbers on administrative transitions and replace them with Kosovo.
