Nicos Dandias: Türkiye is far ahead of Greece in field of aviation industry

Ankara (AA) – Minister of Defense of Greece Nikos Dandias said that Turkey is much ahead of Greece in the field of aviation industry.

Dandias in an interview with Kathimerini said: “Where were Turkey and we are in 1980? Look, where is Turkey and we are today, in 2024. Turkey took a breakthrough, and we took a step back. This is unacceptable.”

Having emphasized that the Greek aviation industry and the defense industry have serious problems, Dandias remarked: “What do we have today? Nothing or nothing domestic.”

The minister emphasized that such a situation is unacceptable, despite a large amount of money spent on satisfying the needs of the country’s armed forces.

noting that Greece can reach a better position in the field of aviation industry in accordance with its capabilities and needs, Dandias expressed its discontent to the current situation.

According to him, it is obvious that the Greek Air Force will not be able to survive without a normally functioning aviation industry, he said that in the coming days they will submit a bill showing how the country’s production potential can be linked to the needs of the General Staff.

indicating that Greece will purchase F-35 fighters in the USA, Dandias said: “We cannot move forward, adding weapons systems only at the top of the pyramid and ignoring the problems at its base. The Air Force with F-35, but with an insufficient amount Transport aircraft is not modern Air Force. “

Stressing that it is necessary to solve the problem of the availability of frigates belonging to the Greek Navy, the minister noted that it is important not only that the frigates go to sea, but also that all systems are efficient.

reminding that a number of Meko class frigates need modernization, Dandias pointed out the importance of the Greek fleet reached a level that existed before the economic crisis.
