at least 23 people died as a result of a series of armed attacks in Benue in the east of Nigeria.
As the head of the Kvande district administration Ray Anumwe said in an interview with a local newspaper, the attacks were made by shepherds from the nomadic tribe of Fulani in the village in the Kvande region. According to him, there are children among the dead, and many residents were injured.
According to an official, the attackers also burned many houses and plundered food supplies among civilians.
In Benue, bloody clashes periodically occur between the pastoralists from among Fulani and agricultural communities. In April, about 100 people were killed as a result of such attacks in this region.
Fulani nomads claim that they are attacked by farmers who are trying to steal their cattle. Against the backdrop of these conflicts, armed gangs are activated that attacks villages and sow fear among the local population.
