Nigeria: 9 People Died As Result Of An Explosion

In the northeastern state of Borno in Nigeria, as a result of a blow to the militants of the Boko Haram terrorist group, 9 people were killed.

According to media reports, the chairman of the state of Borno Abdulkarim Lanvan said that the explosion occurred at a bus stop in the village of Mairi, located in the Guzamal area. According to him, the explosive device was laid by members of Boko Haram.

As a result of the incident, 9 people died, many others were injured, Lavan said.

He also recalled that the village of Mairi is the only settlement in the Guzamal area, where civil authorities returned the population twice. However, because of the new attacks of militants, residents were again forced to leave the village.

The Boko Haram group has been operating in Nigeria since the beginning of the 2000s and since 2009 has been conducting large-scale terrorist attacks, as a result of which tens of thousands of people have died.

Since 2015, the militants have expanded the activity zone and began to attack in neighboring countries – Cameroon, Chade and Niger. According to estimates, in the region of Lake Chad, at least 2 thousand people were killed as a result of the Boko Haram attacks.

Due to terrorism and armed conflicts in the country, hundreds of thousands were forced to leave their homes.
