Oil pumping by “Baku-Sups” is resumed

BP-Zerbaijan company resumed the transportation of oil through the Baku-Sups pipeline

This was stated at a press conference by the President of the BP in the region of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Harry Jones.

According to him, 2 already fanchers with oil have been delivered to the Georgian port of Supasa.

“Depending on weather conditions and phenomena, oil from Baku -Sups will be transported to world markets,” Jones said.

oil pumping in Baku-Sups was suspended in March 2022 and resumed after the repair and delivery work carried out on April 1-17. Then the pumping of the oil was again stopped due to the lack of applications for consignors for tanker loading in Supis.

Baku-Supsa pipeline is designed to transport oil from the Chirag field as part of an agreement on the division of products signed on September 20, 1994 between SOCAR and a group of foreign companies led by BP.

The length of the pipeline is 830 km, including 775 km of a new pipeline with a diameter of 21 inches (530 mm) and 55 km of a rehabilitated pipeline.

Baku-Sups throughput is approximately 7 million tons of oil per year (140 thousand barrels per day).

The operator of the pipeline is the company BP.
