Olympic ice hockey champion found dead

Mark Pavelic, Olympic ice hockey champion with the US national team, was found dead in the apartments of the treatment center. Reported by ESPN.

The cause of death of the 63-year-old ex-athlete has not been reported. Pavelic was last seen alive on March 3. It is noted that the American had mental health problems. Pavelic was detained at a treatment center in Sok Center, Minnesota.

In 2019, he faced charges of assault and possession of weapons. The reason was Pavelic’s conflict with a neighbor. The former hockey player allegedly attacked the man and injured him. However, the athlete’s trial was postponed due to Pavelic’s mental health problems. He was declared incapable of participating in the trial.

Pavelic was a participant in the “miracle on ice” – the victory of American hockey players over rivals from the USSR, who were considered the favorites of the tournament at the Games in Lake Placid. In the National Hockey League (NHL), Pavelic has represented the New York Rangers and the San Jose Sharks.
