The new strain of COVID-19 “Omicron” has been identified almost in 20 countries and regions of the world, the number of new cases continues to grow, transfers CNN.

It is noted that over the past 24 hours the first cases of infection with “Omicron” were recorded in Spain, Austria, Japan and on the island of Reunion, which is the overseas region of France. Earlier cases of the disease with a new strain have already been identified in Australia, Belgium, Botswana, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, China Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

Earlier, WHO released a report in which it was reported that due to mutations that may be “Omicron” more infectious strain, the likelihood that it will quickly spread throughout the world, extremely high. The global risk associated with the new strain was also rated in WHO as extremely high.
