An unknown man tried to set fire to a Christmas tree on Red Square with gasoline, Russian media reported.
The incident occurred in the very center of Moscow on December 30. An unknown man went to the New Year tree with a canister and gasoline, doused and tried to set fire to a tree. The attacker failed to carry out the conceived – the man was noticed by the police officers on duty nearby, who detained him.
The detainees turned out to be a certain Dmitry M. Motives of a man are not known.
The main Christmas tree of Russia was cut into Volokolamsk near Moscow. The height of the tree is 27 meters, and the age is 95 years.
