The new coronavirus strain “Oomikron” can remain in the human population forever and become a seasonal virus. Such an assumption in an interview with the Russian Gazette expressed the Deputy Director of the Clinical Work of the Moscow Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of Rospotrebnadzor Tatiana Ruhentsov.
Ruhentsov explained this by the increased susceptibility of the mucous membranes of the nasopharynx to viruses during supercooling. The specialist believes that Coronavirus will still continue to mutate. It will give him an advantage that will help to overcome immunity formed to previous strains.
Doctor of Science also told how to distinguish ARVI from Omicron strain. In her opinion, due to the similarity of symptoms with other infections, this can only be done with the help of special tests.
