Opposition in Turkey about possibility of creating parliamentary system

The Turkish opposition will abandon plans to transform the presidential form of government in the republic into parliamentary, if it is defeated at the coming presidential and parliamentary elections in May.

This was reported by the leader of the good party Moral Akshenser in an interview with the newspaper Sözcü. Akshenster represents the “alliance of the nation”, which includes 6 opposition parties.

“First of all, I expect to win the elections. If we do not achieve it, we will no longer talk about the parliamentary system. The presidential form of government will continue to operate with the elections in the country,” she said.

According to Akshesheld, at a meeting of party leaders on January 26 it is planned to discuss the issue of nomination of an opposition candidate in the presidential election. He has to compete with the current president of Turkey, the Seiyip Erdogan, who is a single candidate from the “Alliance of the People”, which includes the ruling party of justice and development and the party of the nationalist movement.

Akshenser also said that on January 30, the opposition plans to announce the government program, which it intends to form when victory in the parliamentary elections.

“After our presidential candidate becomes known, we will sign the government program, under which his signature will stand and move on the road,” said the opposition politician.
