Opposition says it will continue blockade of Armenian parliament

Protesters continue to block the entrances to the Armenian parliament building, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, said Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a spokesman for the Armenian opposition Movement to Save the Motherland, adding that a major rally is planned at 16:00.

Earlier, protesters demanding Pashinyan’s resignation blocked the entrances to the parliament building both from Baghramyan Avenue and Demirchyan Street, setting up additional tents there.

“At night, our citizens kept Baghramyan Avenue and Demirchyan Street closed. The night passed peacefully, without any incidents …. The blocking of the entrances to the National Assembly continues. We have agreed with the citizens that the National Assembly will open only when the political majority comes to parliament to formalize Pashinyan’s resignation, “RIA Novosti quoted Saghatelyan as saying.
