Pakistan mulling to drain largest lake

Pakistan authorities wanted to drain the largest freshwater lake in the country. The order on strategic drainage of Lake Manchar was given after the water level in it has reached a dangerous mark, reports Tengrinews.

Officials believe that thanks to the intentional rupture of the shores, the settlements of the Southern Province of Synd were saved. The Minister of Irrigation of the Province of Sind Jam Khan Shoro noted that due to the breakthrough of the lake, about one hundred thousand citizens were forced to leave the houses, but the flooding of populated areas was prevented.

According to the minister, using a breakthrough it is also planned to reduce the water level in the cities of Joha and Mera in the Dadu area. Meteorologists predict strong rains in the region in the coming days. The government calls for those living closely to the lake of citizens to evacuate.
