After the recent terrorist attacks in Islamabad and on November 10 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan cannot rule out the possibility of conducting a cross-border operation against Afghanistan. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Pakistan Khawaja Muhammad Asif.
As reported by the Geo News channel, speaking in a television program, Asif commented on the terrorist attacks that occurred in the country over the past two days.
The minister noted that the expression of condolences by the Afghan authorities in connection with the terrorist attacks in Islamabad and in the South Waziristan region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province cannot be regarded as “proof of sincerity.”
“Pakistan will never be the first to launch a military operation, but no attack will go unanswered,” he stressed, warning India and Afghanistan.
The minister also said that after the attacks in Islamabad and South Waziristan, “the possibility of a cross-border operation in Afghanistan cannot be ruled out.”
Earlier in Islamabad, there was a suicide bombing near a courthouse that killed 12 person and 36 others were injured. Following the attack, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack.
A statement from the Afghan Foreign Ministry expressed condemnation and regret over the terrorist attack in Islamabad and the attack on a school in South Waziristan. Meanwhile, according to Pakistani media reports, the Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan movement claimed responsibility for the explosion in Islamabad.
