Parliament of Kazakhstan approved simplification of customs control procedures with Turkey

Senate deputies at a plenary meeting on September 7 ratified the intergovernmental with the announcement between Kazakhstan and Turkey on the organization of information exchange and simplifying customs control procedures.

Law “On ratification of an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Turkish Republic on the organization of information exchange and simplifying the procedures of customs control” was approved by the Senate after the decision of the Mejlis.

Kazakhstan Senator Nyria Niyazova said that this law is aimed at accelerating customs control by activating the application of electronic exchange of information about goods and vehicles transported between two countries.

The senator indicated that the Turkish Republic is one of the main trade and economic partners of Kazakhstan and takes third place in trade with Kazakhstan. The volume of trade between the parties for the first half of 2023 exceeded $ 2.9 billion, Niyazova noted. In her words, at present, Kazakhstan is importing from Turkey after 12 checkpoints, and exports 7 gearboxes.

The law will enter into force after it is approved by the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev.
