Parliament of Kyrgyzstan adopted bill on state language

Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of Kyrgyzstan on May 31 at the meeting adopted in the third reading the draft constitutional law “On the state language of the Kyrgyz Republic”, local media reports.

The initiator of the bill was the chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zheparov.

The draft law is aimed at the formation of the legal framework of the application of the Gosyazika and the implementation of the state language policy.

According to the bill, official documents and regulatory legal acts on the Gosyzika are considered the original.

In addition, citizens who do not speak the Kyrgyz language (B1) will not be able to work in the state and municipal service.

Also, according to the draft law, television and radio companies should produce more than half of the content in the Kyrgyz language. On the Kyrgyz-speaking versions of websites should be no less information than in versions in other languages.
