“Azerbaijan is one of the countries that takes real steps to ensure diversified supplies, which will allow us to balance energy markets.” The Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shakhbazov said this in his speech at the 5th Romanian International Gas Conference.
He noted that in less than two years Europe was equipped with over 16 billion cubic meters of gas.
“gas supplies to Europe will grow from 8.2 billion to 11.5 billion cubic meters with an increase of 40% by the end of 2022. And this is confirmation that the southern gas corridor works at maximum power, as well as uninterrupted and stability in supply. Today’s role of the southern gas corridor in ensuring energy security is the real expression of the vision of the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, ”said Minister Shakhbazov.
, as the next contribution to energy security, he noted the expansion of the southern gas corridor for 5 years and a doubling of natural gas exports up to 20 billion cubic meters.
“Our common interest lies in the speedy implementation of this project. The memorandum of understanding between Azerbaijan and the European Union on strategic partnership in the field of energy is a decisive step for our joint activities and the receipt of additional volumes of Azerbaijani gas to Europe in 2027” – added Minister of Energy.
He also spoke about Azerbaijan’s plans to provide Europe with renewable energy and hydrogen. In particular, it was about the Georgian-Romanian project on the underwater energy of the Black Sea and digital connection when transmitting the wind energy of the Caspian Sea to Europe and the implementation of the Green Energy corridor.
