Pase supported resolution on creation of special tribunal for Russia and Belarus

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) decided that she approved its requirements to create a special tribunal on the crime of aggression, European Pravda reports.

PACE resolution on legal and human rights components of the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine became the main document in Ukraine, which was adopted at the current session of the Assembly. It pays considerable attention to the creation of a new international legal mechanism for punishment for a crime of aggression.

“There is no other international criminal tribunal, competent to chase and punish for the crime of aggression committed against Ukraine,” explains his call to Pase.

Assembly also paid special attention to the fact that representatives of the leadership of Russia and Belarus, which are mentioned at the same level, should be responsible for the crime of aggression.

“Russian and Belarusian political and military leaders who planned, prepared, initiated or carried out these actions, and who had the opportunity to control or manage the political or military operations of the state, should be identified and prosecuted. Without their decision to unleash this Aggressive war against Ukraine would not have occurred at the war, which was from this war, “0, the document emphasizes.

PACE, however, also notes the need to investigate war crimes, crimes against humanity and accusations of genocide, which fall under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court.

During this session, Pase called several times to create a special tribunal, and also emphasized that the European Council should play a key role in this process.

Also, at the beginning of the week, PACE admitted that the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine began in 2014, not 2022. In a new decision, this approach was confirmed.
