Pashinyan Announced His Intention To Lead Movement Against Armenian Apostolic Church

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced his intention to personally lead the movement against the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC).

He noted that the pioneered holy echmiadzin (governing body of the AAC) is captured by the “anti -national and anti -state group and must be released.”

“I will lead this liberation” – wrote the Armenian prime minister in his Telegram channel.

Earlier, Pashinyan accused the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Garegin II of violating the vow of celibacy. In this regard, the prime minister called on Catholicos to resign. The politician noted that according to the canons of the Armenian Apostolic Church, a person who violated the vow of celibacy has no right to be a Catholicos.

The confrontation between the authorities and the Church was aggravated against the backdrop of mass protests and the active participation of the leader of the Bagrata Bagrata Bagrata Archbishop Bagrata.

In the morning, on June 27, employees of the Armenian National Security Service arrived at the Catholicos residence in Echmiadzin to detain the archbishop, but they met the rebuff from believers and priests.

On June 25, the Investigative Committee of Armenia announced the preparation of terrorist attacks in order to seize power in Armenia by members of the opposition “sacred struggle”. In the houses of the leader of the movement of Archbishop Bagrat Bagrat Bagrata and his supporters, large -scale searches were held. In the evening of the same day, the court arrested them.
