Azerbaijan’s decision to lift all restrictions on the transit of goods through its territory to Armenia means that Armenia is gradually emerging from the blockade. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a government meeting on October 23, Armenian media reported.
“Soon there will be fundamental changes in the structure of our economy. For two days now it has been discussed that Azerbaijan announced the lifting of restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia. This is a very important decision, which shows that the Washington Declaration and the achieved agreements are not just a declaration, as they are trying to imagine. In other words, these are declarations that brought concrete results,” the Prime Minister said.
Pashinyan noted that one should not create the impression that there are no problems or that the government does not see them. The Prime Minister emphasized that no one knows about the problems of Armenia like the government.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, at a joint press conference with the leader of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on October 21, said that Azerbaijan has lifted all restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia through its territory.
