Pashinyan: “On Azerbaijani border – Azerbaijani customs officer, on Armenian – Armenian”

Sooner or later, direct contacts between Armenians and Azerbaijanis may become a necessity, said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in an interview with the Armenian media.

According to Pashinyan, the discussions began with the fact that during the discussion of the issue of communications, the Azerbaijani side said that their citizens may not want to communicate directly with Armenian customs officers at crossing the border, the same applies to Armenian citizens.

Then the Armenian side proposed to attract third parties as operators in the organization of customs procedures. But the Armenian prime minister believes that if the parties talk about peace and neighborhood, then direct communication between Armenians and Azerbaijanis is inevitable: “I think we should finally return to the simplest option – Azerbaijani customs officers are standing on the border of Azerbaijan, Armenian border on the Armenian border. If the operator option does not suit them, then direct communication is best. “
