Pentagon: Assistance To Ukraine Will Be Reduced In Next Defense Budget

US Secretary of Defense Pit Hegset announced a reduction in military assistance to Ukraine in the project of the defense budget for 2026.

Hegset made this statement during the hearing on the budget of the US Department of Defense for 2026, held in Congress.

According to him, the presidential administration Donald Trump “considers the conflict between Russia and Ukraine from a completely different point of view.” He emphasized that in the framework of the new strategy, the volume of military support of Kyiv will be reduced.

Hegset also noted that Ukrainian attacks on Russian military airfields on June 1 showed a significant development of drones in hostilities.

USA “removed lessons from Ukraine, and now the Ministry of Defense is reviewing its own air defense strategy, – he added.

Earlier, after a tense exchange of views with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in the Oval office, Donald Trump temporarily suspended military assistance to Kyiv.
