US administration has nothing to announce the possibility of supplying American Abrams tanks to Ukraine.
This was announced at a regular briefing for journalists by Pentagon press secretary Patrick Ryder.
“At present, I have nothing to declare, and when and if, of course, we will give you know, – he said, commenting on the media reports that Washington is inclined to start delivering Abrams to Kyiv. – As always , we maintain close contact with Ukrainians and our international partners regarding the most urgent needs of Ukraine for military assistance, including short -term and long -term. “
The United States will train the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to use American tanks M1 Abrams in case of supply, Ryder said.
“always, when we provided Ukraine with any weapons system, we provided them with opportunities for training and technical support,” he said.
Ryder also did not answer the question of exactly where the Ukrainian crew training in the case of providing Kyiv of American tanks.
The Pentagon representative added that Abrams tanks are a complex technique, in connection with which the United States needs to make sure that Ukraine has the opportunity to conduct staff training to manage these tanks, as well as the possibility of maintaining this equipment in working condition.
