Philippines And Canada Signed “Troop Agreement”

The Philippines and Canada have signed a Visiting Forces Agreement, which provides for joint military exercises on each other’s territory.

According to a statement from the Canadian Department of Defense, Defense Minister David McGuinty met with Philippine Defense Minister Gilbert Teodoro Jr. in the Philippine city of Makati.

The parties signed a “Visiting Forces Agreement”, which allows military personnel to be stationed on each other’s territory and expand cooperation in the field defense.

As part of the agreement, the parties will be able to participate in joint and multinational operations and exercises conducted on each other’s territory.

According to Philippine press reports, Canada has become the fifth country to sign a “Troop Agreement” with the Philippines.
