Population of Kazakhstan has reached 20 million

The population of Kazakhstan reached 20 million. This was announced by the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev on his page on the social network X.

“I congratulate compatriots with this iconic event! The happy family is the foundation of the well -being of the nation, the sustainable progress of the country. The state will continue to strengthen family values, protect motherhood and childhood,” Tokaev wrote.

According to the Bureau of National Statistics of the Republic, the 20 millionth residents of the country became 5 newborns born in 8.10 in the morning of November 14, 2023.

The anniversary citizens of Kazakhstan were born in the Shalitau, Zhetysu, Attyrau, Akmola and Turkestan regions. Among them are 3 boys and 2 girls.

Earlier, in 1991, the population of the Republic of Kazakhstan was 16.4 million people. Over the years of independence, the country’s population increased by 22.3%.

So, in 2022, in comparison with 1991, the number of births increased from 353.2 thousand to 403.9 thousand people, or by 14.7%.

The largest birth peak was recorded in 2021 and amounted to 446 thousand children.

The increase in natural growth was ensured, including due to a decrease in mortality, including infant.

Life expectancy compared to 1991 in 2022 increased by 6.8 years, while in men – the indicator grew by 7.7 years, in women – by 6 years.

Thus, in 2022, the expectation of life in Kazakhstan was 74.4 years. This indicator exceeds the dopandemic level by 1.3 years.
