Powerful earthquake in Pacific

Seismologists recorded on Thursday an earthquake of magnitude 8.0 in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the Kermadec archipelago, which is part of New Zealand. This was reported by the US Geological Survey, TASS reports.

The hearth lay at a depth of 10 km. There are no settlements close to the epicenter.

The US National Tsunami Warning Center has issued a tsunami warning.
