President choose Czech Republic

The first tour of the presidential elections, which will end on Saturday, began in the Czech Republic, the European media reported.

On Friday, polling stations will be open from 14:00 to 22:00 local time, after which they will open again on Saturday at 08:00 and work until 14:00.

In total, 8 candidates take part in the elections, however, according to pre-election surveys, the most chances to win the former prime minister of billionaire Andrei Babish, former chairman of the NATO Military Committee Peter Pavel and former rector of the University of Agricultural and Forestry named after Mendel Danusha Unkind.

According to Politico, 28% of voters are ready to vote for Babish and Paul in the first round, 24% for the unpleasant. At the same time, none of the remaining candidates was able to gain more than 10%during the survey. In the case of such a distribution of votes, on January 27 and 28, the second round of elections will be held between two candidates who received the most support.

Politico poll says that in the event of a second round, Babish and Pavel, the former general will win, gaining 59% of the vote, and in the event of a Babish and the unpleasant – will win the unkind, gaining 59%.

Babish is the leader of the centrist political movement ANO and is currently heading the opposition in parliament. Due to the fact that on Monday the court acquitted Babish in the case of the illegal use of a subsidy of 2 million euros from the EU, he received an additional impulse and raised his chances of access to the second round.

Pavel and Island, as the Western media noted, adhere to a firm pro -Western course. In particular, they both advocate the decisive support of Ukraine, while Babish, who, like his rivals, advocates the termination of the conflict, criticized the Czech government for putting the interests of Ukraine above Czech.

Pavel and Islands also support the transition to the euro, which before that, various governments of the country, including the Babish government, avoided.

In the Czech Republic, the president has mainly ceremonial functions, but it is he who appoints Prime Minister and members of the Central Bank, and also offers judges candidates for the Constitutional Court.
