Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Amsterdam on a special side “TUR” to participate in the summit of the heads of state and governments of NATO countries, as well as for bilateral meetings in its framework.
At the Amsterdam Airport, Schiphol Erdogan was met by official representatives of the Netherlands, a regular representative of Turkey at NATO Basat Oztyurk and Turkish Ambassador to the Hague Selchuk Yunal.
After a meeting at the airport, the Turkish leader went to the Hague, where the summit will be held.
Together with the President, his wife Emine Erdogan, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Minister of National Defense Yashar Guler, head of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Ibrahim Kalyn, the head of the Presidential Administration Fakhrettin Altun, as well as the chief adviser to foreign policy and security Akif Chagatai Klych.
It is expected that during the summit, Erdogan will hold a number of bilateral meetings with the leaders of other states.
The main topic of meetings will be the development of a new investment obligation on defense – with the aim of bringing the military expenses of the Allies to a level corresponding to the current situation in the field of security.
At the strategic level, participants will also discuss the threats and risks that the Euro -Atlantic region faces, as well as the actions of NATO to strengthen the deterrence and defense in the conditions of the identified threats.
