President Erdogan Congratulated Pope Of Roman Leo XIV On Occasion Of His Election For This Post

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a congratulatory letter to the spiritual leader of the Catholics and the head of state Vatican to the pope of the Roman Leo XIV on the occasion of his election to this post.

According to the message published on the social network, the presidential administration says: “With the most sincere feelings, I congratulate you on behalf of my people and on my own person on the occasion of your election to the papal post.”

The President’s message notes that the late Pope Francis, who was an outstanding statesman, earned the recognition of the whole world, making enormous efforts to establish peace and tolerance during the period of exacerbation of regional and international conflicts.

“I firmly believe that we will continue with you a sincere and constructive dialogue that we conducted with Pope Francis. I am sincerely convinced that the further development of relations between Turkey and the Vatican will make a significant contribution to strengthening tolerance in the international arena and to terminate humanitarian tragedies, in particular in gas,” the message says.

In his letter, the Turkish President expressed his readiness to make joint efforts to stop humanitarian tragedies.
