Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan published a congratulation on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the battle of the Sakary.
The President posted a message on a social network, in which the Turkish people congratulated in connection with the anniversary of the heroic victory.
“I congratulate the Tuoets people on the anniversary of the battle of the Sakary – one of the most critical battles of our national struggle. This heroic victory, despite the difficult conditions and limited means, was won with love for the independence of our people. On this day I am with mercy honor the memory of the commander in chief of Gazi Mustafa Kemal and all our heroes, ”wrote President Erdogan.

The battle between the Turkish and Greek army was a turning point in the war for the independence of Turkey. The battle began on August 23, 1921 east of the Sakarya River and ended on September 13 by the victory of the Turks. According to the results of the 22-day battle, the east of the Sakarya River was completely cleaned from the Greek forces.
The battle of Sakaria went down in history as one of the turning points that ensured the transition of the Turks from defensive tactics to the offensive.
