President Erdogan Discussed Relations Between Ankara And Rome With Italian Prime Minister

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

As reported by the Office of Communications under the Turkish Presidential Administration, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the G20 leaders’ summit in Johannesburg (South Africa). The parties discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and Italy, as well as the regional and global agenda.

Erdogan noted that work on expanding cooperation in the defense industry and other areas will continue and that deepening Turkish-Italian ties will bring mutual benefits.

Speaking about the situation in Gaza, Erdogan emphasized the importance of maintaining the ceasefire that has been reached and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region. The President added that sustainable peace is only possible on the basis of a two-state solution, and Ankara is making efforts to promote this approach.

Erdogan also recalled that Turkey is doing everything possible to establish a just and lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia. The Turkish head of state expressed confidence that the resumption of Istanbul negotiations could open the way to a diplomatic process.

In addition, the President emphasized the importance of further promoting trilateral cooperation between Turkey and Italy with the Libyan government.
