Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan issued a statement on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the deportation of the Ahiska Turks (Meskhetians).
In his publication on the social network NSosyal, President Erdogan wrote:
“We still feel in our hearts the pain of the deportation of about one hundred thousand Ahiska Turks from their native land on November 14, 1944. In the 81st On the anniversary of this unfortunate deportation, I pray to the Almighty for mercy for our compatriots who died as a result of the deportation, and I share the pain of our brothers the Ahiska Turks.”
