Every step of the Azerbaijani army in Karabakh, every drop of blood shed in the name of independence and honor is forever inscribed in golden letters in the history of the Turkic world. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated this while speaking at a ceremony in Baku dedicated to Victory Day, celebrated in Azerbaijan on November 8.
“We view this victory not as the end, but as an important milestone on the path to lasting peace in the Caucasus,” Erdogan emphasized.
According to the Turkish leader, the Azerbaijani army liberated Karabakh from occupation and extinguished a fire that burned in the hearts for thirty years under the wise leadership of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
“The victory in Karabakh not only put an end to gross injustice, but also opened a new era in our region. It changed the geopolitical balance in Asia and Europe,” he emphasized.
The Turkish leader also expressed confidence that this magnificent victory will lead to a lasting agreement that will strengthen peace thanks to the constructive approach of both leaders. “And we, as Turkey, will do everything necessary,” he promised.
In addition, President Erdogan drew attention to joint projects with Azerbaijan, which strengthened cooperation between the two countries.
We strengthened our cooperation, which began with the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli pipeline and culminated in the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Shah Deniz and TANAP (projects) (Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline), as well as the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline, he emphasized.
On Saturday, November 8, Azerbaijan celebrates the fifth anniversary of Victory Day – a public holiday dedicated to the liberation of a significant part of the occupied territories and victory in the 44-day Second Karabakh War.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev December 3, 2020 signed an Order on the establishment of September 27 in Azerbaijan as Remembrance Day.
