President Erdogan: Production Of Electricity At Akkui NPP Will Begin In 2025

The launch of test production and the first supplies of electricity from the Akku nuclear power plant are scheduled for the end of the current year.

This was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking at the Istanbul summit on natural resources.

The head of state also said that the construction of the first reactor of Akku NPP will be completed in the near future.

The President noted that Türkiye occupies a strategic place in world energy due to its natural resources, geographical position and proximity to hydrocarbons.

The politician emphasized that Türkiye intends to become a global player in the field of intelligence of natural gas and oil.

According to the Turkish leader, the volume of oil production in the country reached a record level, exceeding 135 thousand barrels per day as of the end of March 2025.

He said that until today, more than 26 million barrels of oil with a total value of about $ 2 billion have been obtained at the Gabar deposit in Turkey.

The Head of State said that Türkiye plans to increase the daily production of the Sakarya gas field at the Black Sea shelf up to 40 million cubic meters by 2028.

The President also emphasized the role of Ankara in ensuring the energy security of the region and the European Union countries. In particular, he recalled that Türkiye undertook a number of initiatives to promote the energy security of the region and mitigate the consequences of the energy crisis in the EU states.

“Türkiye acts as a” safe harbor “against the backdrop of the energy crisis that Europe has encountered,” the head of the Turkish state stated.

In his speech, President Erdogan also said that this year Türkiye will begin to extract gold at one of the deposits in the nichera on the basis of a license issued by the authorities of this country.
