The project “Road of Development” will transform the geopolitical capabilities of Turkey into a comprehensive economic advantage that will benefit the entire region.
This was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking at the Global Transport Corridors forum in Istanbul.
The Turkish leader noted that the escalation of the situation in the region, the uncertainty in the Ormuzian Strait and the regional airspace reminded of the importance of safe transport routes.
The head of state emphasized that the average corridor has the potential of annual trade through railway transportation of $ 75 billion.
According to him, the implementation of the project “Development Road” will allow transporting goods entering the Iraqi port of the FAO to Europe through the territory of Turkey.
The president added that the implementation of projects within the average corridor will provide an production effect for $ 114 billion and create an average of 144 thousand jobs a year. He also indicated that the production effect of the project in the 10th future will amount to more than $ 50 billion and provide an average of 63 thousand jobs annually.
The development road project provides for the construction of road and railway routes with a length of 1200 km from the Iraqi port of the FAB to the Turkish border. The adherence to its implementation will receive a direct access to Europe.
