Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in his speech on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the proclamation of the Turkish Republic, emphasized the importance of national unity and independence.
“The Turkish Republic is the last stronghold to which our selfless nation grasped independence in the most difficult days of its history, and the final link in the chain of our states,” said the head of state.
The President expressed confidence in the future of the country. “Together we will build Turkey – a leader in its region, respected in the world, great, strong and prosperous,” said the head of state.
102 years have passed since the proclamation of the Turkish Republic – an event that opened a new era in the history of the Turkish people. With the proclamation of the republic, the slogan “Sovereignty unconditionally and unconditionally belongs to the people” took its place in public administration.
Every year on October 29, the Turkish people celebrate the main national holiday – Republic Day. It was on this day in 1923 that Turkey was declared a Republic.
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (parliament) approved the decision on April 19, 1925, declaring October 29 a national holiday.
